Barakah Awqaf
A Barakah Pillars Initiative by Sheikh Bilal Dannoun
Most charity is spent once… and once it is used, the impact ends.
But what if your charity could continue helping people year after year, long after the original donation was made?
This is the power of Waqf.
Barakah Awqaf is a collection of charitable endowments established as part of the Barakah Pillars initiative to revive one of the most powerful traditions in Islamic history; a system where charity is preserved, invested, and its returns are used to support meaningful causes for generations.
How it works is simple. For example, if someone contributes $1,000, that $1,000 remains preserved in the fund and is invested across a diversified range of carefully vetted and trusted Shariah-compliant projects and opportunities designed to generate good returns. If those investments were to produce a 10% return, that could generate $100 toward charitable initiatives, while the original $1,000 continues working again the following year; creating benefit again and again.
Historically, awqaf funded schools, hospitals, orphanages, and vital community infrastructure across the Muslim world. These institutions served communities for decades and even centuries because the original charity was protected while its benefits continued to grow.
Through Barakah Awqaf, the aim is to revive this legacy by building a sustainable fund that can support charitable initiatives and community development projects that uplift lives and strengthen the Ummah.
Barakah Awqaf operates within the Awqaf Australia framework, a registered Australian charity regulated by the ACNC, with investments managed through regulated financial entities within Australia’s financial system (ASIC) to ensure transparency, accountability and responsible stewardship.
Importantly, Barakah Awqaf itself does not take any fees from your contribution.
